Persistent mode is opt-in (storage.mode: "persistent"). Memory mode is wiped when the page or process stops. Browser database names include the API host and the client key. Node writes one SQLite file. Node 22.20 ships SQLite 3.50.4. Do not assume multi-process WAL sharing on that build.

If the database cannot open and unavailable is "reject" (the persistent default), start() returns ready: false. The client does not pretend the fallback is durable.
